Visit the islands’ bird & seal colonies
as well as wreck sites & other areas of historical interest.
A Family Business
Run by husband and wife team Mark and Susie Groves, Island Sea Safaris is based on St. Mary’s, the largest of the Scilly Isles. The boat trips operate from St. Mary’s harbour although you can also be collected and dropped off from other islands for an additional cost.
With routes varying according to wind and tide, the morning or afternoon trips take you around the islands and rocks of Scilly with an informative commentary throughout the journey.
Marine Wildlife Safaris
Get a close-up perspective of the islands’ wildlife aboard a powerful RIB!
The trips include a visit to a seal colony and are a great way of getting to view the islands from the sea. Both Mark and Susie know the waters around Scilly incredibly well and are more than willing to share their knowledge of the area with you.
Our trip took place in April with quite blustery and choppy conditions, but despite the rough seas we were still able to approach the seal colonies at close quarters, getting wonderful views with the seals at times swimming alongside the boat.
Spot a wide selection of sea birds
The islands provide a home to both native species & visiting migrants
We also saw numerous seabirds including Razorbills, Gannets and Guillemots, although sadly I think we were a little too early for the Puffins which visit the islands from April until around mid-July.
An experience to remember, so don’t forget to take your camera. We would also recommend wrapping up warm and wearing a water proof jacket even on a fairly warm day!
