Pebble Island

Located in the northwest of the Falkland Islands group, Pebble is one of the larger outlying islands. As well as a huge variety of birdlife and some great hiking, the island also has a fascinating war history. The island was the site of one of the war’s most dramatic events when a British SAS raid disabled 11 Argentinian aircraft on the island’s grass airstrip. Wreckage from the aircraft can still be seen, and today, visitors land on the same airstrip.
