Island Yoga Retreats in Nicaragua

Set between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Nicaragua is known for its colourful colonial cities, dramatic volcanoes, jungles and beautiful beaches with great surf. Not as developed as its neighbour Costa Rica, Nicaragua’s wellness scene has been thriving in recent years yet still retains an unspoilt and authentic feeling. Here are some suggestions if you’d like to develop your practice on one of Nicaragua’s wild and beautiful islands.

Jicaro Private Island, Las Isletas

Hidden away on a private island among Lake Nicaragua’s Las Isletas, just a short boat ride from the UNESCO World Heritage City of Granada, Jicaro is an ideal destination for people who want to reconnect with themselves and nature. Daily yoga classes are available for guests at the lodge’s yoga deck, which looks out over the lake and towards Mombacho Volcano.

Yoga retreats are also organized from time to time at Jicaro, combining exceptional yoga experiences with opportunities to learn about the destination and its culture and even help teach yoga to the local school children.

Isleta El Espino, Las Isletas

Another of Lake Nicaragua’s Las Isletas is Isleta El Espino, a private island ecolodge located just minutes away from Granada’s bustling and historic colonial city. Yoga classes are led on the deck overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Nicaragua. Having only five rooms allows for a personalized experience, and in addition to yoga, there’s an array of activities available, including hiking, fishing, water sports and horseback riding.
